Not every connection is formed through closeness.
Between one person and another, there is always a space that belongs to neither entirely. We bring our own histories, ways of seeing, needs, boundaries, and inner worlds into every relationship. Sometimes we move toward one another. Sometimes we remain apart. And somewhere between the two, a relationship takes shape.
The Space Between explores that distance not as emptiness, but as part of connection itself.
Created through the fluid movement of alcohol ink, the composition developed without a predetermined boundary between its forms. Each was allowed to move from its own place, leaving an open field between them. The space that remained became as much a part of the work as the marks themselves.
Perhaps connection does not always ask us to close every distance. Sometimes it asks us to recognize that another person can remain fully themselves, and we can remain fully ourselves, while something meaningful exists between us.
What It Carries
There can be connection without losing the space between us.
